What this tool does
This generator suggests tags for your video and then tells you, for each one, how many videos trending in your chosen country this week actually carry it and what those videos average in views. Suggestions with no evidence behind them are labelled "untested" rather than quietly mixed in with the rest.
How to use it
- Type your topic, or paste a YouTube URL — the tool then uses that video's real title as the seed and shows you its own tags too.
- Pick the country you are publishing for. Tag vocabulary differs sharply between markets.
- Copy either the full list or the shorter "only tags with evidence" list, and paste it into YouTube Studio.

Limits you should know about
- Evidence comes from the Trending Tags Index, which covers eight countries and a few hundred videos per country per day. A tag can be excellent and still be absent from it.
- YouTube caps the tag field at 500 characters in total, so the full list will usually be more than you can paste.
- AI suggestions need an AI provider to be configured. Without one, the index-derived tags still work in full.
- Nobody, including this tool, can show you YouTube search volume. YouTube does not publish it.
Questions people ask
What does "used by N trending videos" mean exactly?
N distinct videos that appeared on the Trending chart of the country you selected during the last seven days carry that exact tag. A video that trended on four days in a row counts once.
Why are some tags marked untested?
Because the index has never seen them on a trending video in that country. That is a statement about our data, not a judgement about the tag — most good long-tail tags will be untested.
How many tags should I use?
YouTube allows 500 characters in the tag field, which is usually 15 to 30 tags. Tags are a weak ranking signal compared with the title, thumbnail and first line of the description; use them to disambiguate, not as a lottery ticket.
Do tags still matter on YouTube?
They matter least of the metadata fields. YouTube has said publicly that tags mainly help when a topic is commonly misspelled. Treat them as cheap insurance rather than a growth lever.
Can I export the list?
Yes — there is a CSV download with the tag, the evidence label, the trending video count and the average views for each row.
